FUTURE FIGHT SUITS

Abstract :The purpose of this article is to present the vision of science upon the soldier’s
protection which he needs during battle with his enemy. This protection must not slow soldier’s
movements but on the contrary it must enhance them making him almost invulnerable against
bullets, exterior forces and fire. Creating a perfect fighting suit wa s in science priorities from a
long time but the materials and procedures needed did not exist at the time, fact that slowed down the process. America is one of the great powers of the world so it’s the closest to create and
implement such kind of suits. I will present you a new concept of universal soldier ready to take
any kind of challenge. This concept is called TALOS(
Tactical Assault Light Operator Suit ).

1.INTRODUCTION

Even in t he ancient times the people have fought each other. They fought over land,
money or personal interests. This war evolved through weapons used, but evolution was a
lot more slowly regarding body protection. That is the reason that I think that no matter
the level of the weapons, the soldier needs to be protected in order to achieve victory.
America seems to have acknowledged that and wishes to create the perfect soldier by giving him the best protection they can provide. In the modern world, the amount of
human resources that must be used in urban fights(Afghanistan) gets higher and higher
and deaths appear more often. To limit the number of deaths, they try to create a new body protection system so that he won’t be such vulnerable to bullets, fire and mechan ical
force.

2.TALOS’s ORIGINS

At start, Talos was a legendary cretan creature, even if there exist many myhts
regarding his origin. After Zeus kidnnapped Europe and took her to Creta he gave her
three gifts in order to prove his love for her one of th em being the bronze giant Talos.
Another version of the story says that the giant has been forged by Hefaistos and the cyclops as a gift for Minos, the king of Creta. Some say that Talos was son of Cres and
father of Faistos or Minos’s brother. Others say that it actually was a bull, probably
identic with the cretan minotaur from the maze. Due to „Argonautics” of the ancient writer Apollonios form Rhodos, It was the last from a long generation of bronze giants,
survivors of the demi -gods era. [5]

3.DESCRIPTION

United States Elite Squads are only a few years from creating the ultra- performant
equipment, named TALOS, designed to semnificantly enhance fighting, surviving and
comunication to help soldiers on the battle front.
Such Armor, compared to „Iro n Man” suits form the science fiction movies, would
provide real -time information about battlefield, monitoring the vital stats and bullet -proof
from head to toes.
Even if it is very hard to build, the researchers plan to build such exo -schelet from
„liqu id armor” – kevlar soaked into a liquid that materialize at high pressure or stabbing.
It should have a material that stops hemoragy.
Tactical Assault Light Operator Suit (TALOS), as the project is called, is being
coordinated by the Center of Command for Special Ops. The first prototype of the armor
will be presented to the commanders of different departments of americand army on the month of June.

„A great number of deaths is being counted because of the wounds and the explosions.
If we could do somethi ng to fast combine field tech, to ensure better protection and a
greater fighting capabilities, it would be better” James Heurts said, Deputy Procurement

The greater challenge met by now is creating a light and comfortable equipment for
the soldier. Another suit characteristic is „thermal protection system”, which works with 3.5 kg batteries and uses cold water and pipes to keep low temperature. Michael Fiedson,
manager of the TALOS project says that batteries, cooling system and exo -schelet could
represent the biggest problems .
„Most likely, some aspects of the suit will be added step by step, rather than all at a
time. Integrated communication headsets, night -vision, display visor used by fighter
pilots – wich can be used at ground forces too. An lighter armor with better bullet -proof
protection is required for all soldiers. I think that at least some of the aspects of the researchers will be applied in close future . Expertise domains required for this costum e
varies so it is less probably that one candidate to able to meet projection requirements” declared Fieldson.
Characteristics of the new SOCOM concept includes sensors, Communication parts
and materials that can deposit and release energy. Security Depart ment expressed their
interest to this new technology, which could become available for other services too.
The contracting of the products required for building the costumes is expected to
happen in the next 12 months and for the first suit to be tested into battle in 5 years. [1]

This revolutionary body armor , named „Tactical Assault Light Operator Suit (or
Talos)“, will be equipped with an external skelet, to alow the soldier to move heavy
equipments, with an performant computer and an increased bul let proof protection, as
well as a system to monitor vital signals, explained US Army. US Special Operations Command wich controls the elite commando forces, Navy SEAL and Army Rangers,
made a call to the researchers a month ago to present projects based o n technologies to be
added to an ”inteligent fighting armor”.
The projects can be presented until september 2014. Military and Pentagon’s chiefs
and will after -wards decide how will they act with the higher budget constraints,
explained the spokesman of researchments, Development and engineering department of Land Forces, Roger Teel. This future battle Armor could use an liquid armor, seen in the
„Terminator” movies.
„Any soldier would be able to lift greater weights than he normally could. One alone
man c ould lift hundreds of killos or could move a tank placed offroad”, the opinion of
Jack Obusek, reserve colonel of the US Army , currently hired at Army's Soldier Research
Development and Engineering from Boston. [8]

4.CONCLUSIONS
In conclusion,if we want that our soldiers to be reliable,we need reliable protectio ns
and suits. Due to this fact ,America,one of the greatest country,lead to developed an almost
perfect protection of soldiers,which will be ready to use in the shortest time for the entire
america n army. New weapons and battlefield requires new equipment and better
protections against enemy. This protection wi ll be the greatest against bull ets,fire and
mechanical forces.
