0. How did it all begin?

Our story begins when the Earth is no longer able to offer a [anonimizat]. Soon the wars for food start. Thus, a world military conflict begins and nuclear weapons are used. [anonimizat]. [anonimizat]. [anonimizat]. All this leads to the end of life on Earth for millennia.

[anonimizat] a spaceship that will be able to save the lives of at least 20,000 people for a [anonimizat].

1.How did we choose the name of the spaceship?

[anonimizat]-existence. [anonimizat], reflecting the entire solar system.

2.How can we remember Earth?

The dissappearance of Earth took a great deal of monuments which were sacred to humankind and its history. [anonimizat], [anonimizat], the Sphynx and all the knowledge of the ancestors kept in books are some of the wonders that humans lost. We, however, found a solution to keep all these memoriesalive.

[anonimizat], geography, monuments, fauna, flora and many others that built the Earth.[anonimizat].[anonimizat].[anonimizat],cities,monuments,[anonimizat], [anonimizat].

[anonimizat],well, you were wrong! [anonimizat]. [anonimizat].In these museums there will be famous art work that have been found on Earth. Visitors will get information about others’ [anonimizat].[anonimizat],clubs and also a pool.In the upper part there will be an amuzement park and virtual reality rooms that simulate different animals and places.[anonimizat] 6 floors there will be a hologram of one monument from Earth.[anonimizat],Taj Mahal and others will enlighten the memory of Earth long after its disappearance. To truly remember the sweet memory of Earth we will have a special day just about Earth which we will celebrate on the 22nd of April. For this day a [anonimizat] a moment of silence will be held for Terra. One of the biggest surprises from the feast will be the cake which will be in the shape of the Planet.People will enjoy it and hope that one day we will return home.

We cherish the memory of the Earth because in order to have a future we need to know our roots, to be grateful for our ancestors and to learn from them how to build our wings.

3. What about people?

Age structure:

We will select 10,000 young adults (18-40 year olds), 5,000 children, and 5,000 mature adults (40-50 year olds).

Necessary skills:

We will select the people good at certain fields: medicine, gastronomy, engineering, psychology, education, agriculture, government, and research.

Conditions and contract:

Each person who would want to live on the spaceship will have to fulfill certain conditions:

The people on the spaceship are not allowed to instigate fights.

Children under 6 are not allowed to walk around the ship without an adult.

If a person becomes violent with his family or wants to kill somebody, they will be judged according to the gravity of their deed.

After 2 A.M. walking on the ship is allowed only in emergency situations.

Each child must attend kindergarten, school, high school or superior education. They must pass an entrance examination in order to attend the higher level (for instance, if they finished secondary school, they must pass a test for high school). All classes are mandatory.

A child is considered an adult at 18 when he is responsible for the consequences of his deeds.

Each person entering the ship must take a set of investigations, MRI tests, IQ and psychological tests in order to know the condition, both physical and mental, of each inhabitant.

4.What about our tests?

Atum will save 20,000 people, but its capacity is of 30,000 people, thus offering ideal living conditions. Each person has the opportunity for a new chance to life, but they must pass two tests. These tests are necessary as we all desire a safe environment on the ship, avoiding the problem of endangering someone’s life.

If someone becomes violent, they will be submitted to correction and mental rehabilitating methods.

5. Is this a flower ?

The shape of the spaceship is represented by a lotus flower. This flower has a wealthy symbolism in the Middle Age, it is also met in Egyptian culture, Buddhist culture and in Hinduist culture. The lotus flower represents the resurrection, so we can associate this idea with the rebirth of the Earth and humanity. Additionally, the metal which will cover the petals will be painted in blue. The color blue is associated with calmness, spirituality and hope.

A flower of lotus

Construction of the space settlement

The spaceship is built from a central construction which has the role to consolidate and to attach to the other parts of it. This is called the center of the spaceship or the bud. At the level of this part is located the control center which is found at the inferior level of the construction. The bud is divided into three main levels, the inferior one is assigned to the control center and the next two superior levels form an ordinary city similar to those on Earth. Each of these three main levels presents second levels. In total, there are eight levels in the bud and six levels in each petal. The communication with the other parts of the spaceship is made through twelve places (tunnels). The second, third and fourth floor of the bud are connected to each petal by a tunnel. The middle of the spaceship is a circle which has a radius R= 4 km. The edges of this circle are attached to the petals of the space settlement. The most voluminous part of the spaceship is located in the middle of the bud, and it is also represented by the first superior floor. This level has a radius R1= 5,33 km and an area of A s1= 89,20 km2. The second superior level is equal with the inferior one, both of the levels having an area equal to A s2=50,24 km2. The height of the bud is 12 km. The aria of the bud is Abud =357,59 km2 , and the capacity Vbud = 740,5 km3 .

The bud The skeleton of the bud

The levels of the bud

A section through the bud

The divisions (petals) represent the rest of the spaceship, they are four. Each petal houses in their interior a specific domain, for example: the inhabitancy, the industry, the tourism and the agriculture. All the petals are equal, they have the same measurements: t (thickness) = 500 m, h = 11.81 km, L=14.73 km. As well as the bud, the petals contain three main floors and, each of the main levels presents a second level. The petals are detached at a distance of 3.75 km measured from the base. The distance between the divisions reaches its highest point, being equal to 7.04 km (on the circle ). The distance between the middle of two petals is 106 m. The capacity of a petal is Vpetal= 50.62 km3, external area of a division is A ext=87.27km2 , internal area is A int =91.10km and the lateral area is Alat=10.2 km2.

A petal

The tunnels are the arteries which allow the communication between all the parts of the spaceship. Between the petals is a tunnel which puts them together, in total they are four (one tunnel between two petals ). Its dimensions are diameter d=250m and length L=293km. There are three tunnels between the bud and each petal, those tunnels start at the second, the third and the fourth floors of the bud. The shortest floor of the bud, it has the area A tunnel1=0.54km2 and the capacity V tunnel1=0.032 km3. The second tunnel starts at the third floor of the bud and it has the area Atunnel2=1.23km2 and the capacity V tunnel2=0.077km3. The third tunnel starts at the fourth floor of the bud and it has the area A tunnel3= 1.92 and the capacity V tunnel3=0.188km3. In total, there are twelve tunnels which are between the bud and the petals.

Artificial gravity

Because of the population of the spaceship, one of the main problem is the production of the artificial gravity. The gravity is necessary, because the lack of it can produce discomfort, and it also affects the human body. The problems which can appear due to the fade of gravity are:

Fluid redistribution

Red blood cells loss

Muscle damage

Bone damage

Degraded vision

Degraded smell and taste

Weight loss

Changes in posture and stature

Change in coordination

Cardiovascular change

To create artificial gravity we will move the spaceship and we produce the centrifugal force which will become like a gravitational force. Because of the centrifugal force we will recreate the artificial gravity. We will be careful when we create the gravity, because all its elements need to be in perfect balance, unless we edge in the comfort zone. As we want to obtain a gravity acceleration g=9.80665 m/s2 according to the radius R=6960 m we will need the angular velocity (v1)=0.3584 rotations/minute and a tangential velocity (v)=261.225 m/s , without departure form comfort zone.

The spaceship will be launched from equator because there the ground moves faster and because of this, the space settlement will be pushed stronger and in this way, the ship will be put easier on its orbit without coming back because of the gravity of Terra. If we want the spaceship not to collide with the Earth, it must move fast, so as to excel the gravitational field of the Earth.

For the construction of the spaceship we will use some materials which present some specific characteristics as low weight, physical and chemical resistance, easy attendance etc. Some of this materials are represented by silicon, nitride of silicon, titanium and stainless steel, these materials will be used to build the skeleton of the spaceship, and also its body. For the tunnels we will use glass, one of the most durable material, which is a metallic micro-alloy, made of palladium, phosphorus, silicon, germanium and silver.

The construction of the spaceship is estimated at 35 years.

The total costs of the construction are estimated at $ 5 billion.

6.What do you think about the structure ?

The spaceship has a lotus flower form and it is structured on the petals. The middle of the spaceship is represented by the bud.

In the center of the ship(the bud), there are 3 main levels, the second and the third have both 2 secondary levels and the first floor has just one secondary level (1,11,2,21,22,3,31,32). In the third main floor, there will be a generator and its center of guardianship, then in the seventh secondary floor (31), there will be legal buildings (ex: court, city hall, Court of Appeal). On the eight floor (32),there will be the control center of the spaceship, the research center of the ship amd experimental labs. The first and the second main floors will be arranged to house the residential area.

This area contains: a huge neighborhood of houses / apartment buildings, a medical center, the police station, an office for emergency situations (buildings which are necessary for a good life). On the first main floor is located the hospital. The fourth secondary floor (21) is an important floor, because of the educational system which is located on this floor. In this level we can find kindergartens, schools, high schools, universities, parks and sports centers. In the fifth secondary floor (22) are located holograms of famous buildings from Earth, a historical centre and a part of residential buildings. The second floor (11)is reserved for shops, grocery stores, pharmacies and green grocery stores.

All of 4 petals will have 3 main levels, each of the main floors has a secondary floor.

The first petal (residential area)

Floor 1:houses, a commercial center, an office for emergency situations, the police station

Floor 11: a pool (aquapark)

Floor 2: houses, a commercial center, an office for emergency situations, the police station

7.How do we realize the transport ?

Inside the spaceship, there will be public transportation which will be realized by buses with a low capacity.

The individual transport will be realized with little cars.

These cars will use as combustible the electrical energy.

If you want to drive, you need to be older than 18 years old.

Outside of the spaceship, the transport will be realized just by professional pilots.

Inside the space settlement the transport will also be realized by elevators which will be situated in each side of the bud or the petals.

8. How does it work?

Electrical energy.

The space station’s main source of energy will rely on the concept of Peter Glaser for Solar Power Satellite (SRS), a satellite made up of solar cells placed on Earth’s Orbit of Geosynchronization,at 35.786 kilometres above the equator, where it will enter in the Earth’s shadow for just a few minutes every year.

This will boot/use the solar cells to turn the light into electricity, the electricity will be turned into microwaves, and these will be taken by some antennas placed on the edge of the space station which at the same time will transform the microwaves into electricity, which will fulfill any need on the station. Some of the energy will be stored for emergency situations, such as power failure. One SRS at the 10.5 km length and 5.2 km wide and weighing 50.000 tons would produce 5 gigawatts. In Earth’s Orbit of Geosynchronization will be placed 20 such satellites, totally producing 100 gigawatts.

.

Lighting of the space station

For illumination of the space station,LEDs will be used on the ceiling of each room and on the upper part of the walls in the case of the very large rooms. They will try to imitate the sky from the Earth, so at 5:35,the LEDs will imitate a sunrise from each corner of the rooms and lightly, for 15 minutes, the lights will change their color to a blue similar to Earth’s sky. They will keep their color until 20:55 when the LEDs will imitate a sunset for 15 minutes, during which the lights will turn off, leaving only some lights lit in the white light to give the impression of a starry sky.

THE CLIMATE

The rooms’ walls will be electrically heated to keep the temperature of the compartments constant and moderate, about 20 degrees Celsius in daytime, and overnight between 10 and 15 degrees Celsius to simulate the best the night on Earth.

9.On which orbit will we be?

On the opposite side of the Earth from the Sun, the orbital period of an object would normally be greater than that of Earth. The extra pull of Earth’s gravity decreases the orbital period of the object, and at the point that orbital period becomes equal to Earth’s. Like is about 1.5 million kilometres from Earth.

The orbital position:

We chose one of the Langrange points because the combined gravitational pull of the two large masses provides precisely the centripetal force required to orbit with them.

The point we selected was . It lies on the line through the two large masses, beyond the smaller of the two. Here, the gravitational forces of the two large masses balance the centrifugal effect on a body at .

Orbital Velocity Formula

Objects that travel in uniform circular motions around the Earth are said to be in “orbit”. The velocity of this orbit depends on the distance to the center of the Earth. The velocity has to be just right, so that the distance to the center of the Earth is always the same. The orbital velocity formula contains a constant, G, which is called the “universal gravitational constant”. Its value is = 6.673 N/ . The radius of the Earth is = 6.38

Orbitalvelocity=

v=

v= the orbital velocity of an object (m/s)

G= the universal gravitational constant, G= 6.673 N/

= the mass of the Earth (5.98 x kg)

r= the distance from the object to the center of the Earth

Calculations:

G= 6.673 N/

R= 6.38

= 5.98 m

v=

v

v=m

10.How will we communicate?

The telecommunications will facilitate the communication in the spaceship so we can communicate through television, mobile phones and radio.

The processes of obtaining those forms of communication will be realized the same way they are on Earth.

The television on the spaceship is defined the same way it is on Earth, therefore we can define television as an composition of methods and techniques that are used for electric transmission on a channel of communication of moving images.

The radio is defined as a method of transmitting sounds through radio waves which are electromagnetic waves by their nature. The device that decodifiesthose sounds is called “radio”. Communicating through radio will be less used through station.

Mobile phones use the electromagnetic waves from a specific line of transmission. A mobile phone works as a radio. Communication through cell phones will use the same technique as on Earth, that is that the phones will receive the radio signal transmitted by a cell phone tower. Communication through phones will be the most used method of communication.

11. Is this a country or a spaceship?

This ship will be steered by a commander helped by 4 mates, each one responsible for each level of the ship.

From a representative and legislative point of wiew the ship will be commanded by a president and 3 vice-presidents which will be done from the town hall.

The ships’ politics regarding organization, functioning, supplies and security will be elaborated by the government made of 25 specialists from 5 domains (health, safety and order, education, justice and industry)chosen by an open vote once in 5 years.Vital topics of interest will be discussed in a referendum, where all residents will participate, those over 18 years with a right to vote.

12. What happens with the law?

On the space station, a civil code will be implemented, which includes the most important regulations on relations between private individuals and legal entities, including the state, when it participates in legal relations/matters as a private person. Also, a criminal code will be implemented, that is the normative act that brings together the norms that constitute the common law in the field of penal law.It is an ensemble/aggregate of the main judicial norms that define the criminal offences and establish their sanction.

Some offenses, such as those below, will be punishable by criminal penalties:

A. Homicide

B. Trespassing

C. Theft or stealing

D. Consumption of prohibited substances.

E. Vandalism

F. Bribery

The purposes of criminal punishment are:

A. Correction of the convict.

Criminal punishment applies not to cause physical suffering to the convicted person, but to change the misconceptions and misbeliefs that have influenced him to commit the crime and to educate his respect for the written and unwritten norms of society.

B. Preventing the committing of new offenses by the convicted person.

This goal is achieved by correcting and re-educating the convict, who, after executing the punishment, will not again follow the criminal path; general crime prevention, namely the prevention of offenses committed by persons other than those convicted. This is done by threatening with punishment. Thus, the simple awareness by the litigant of the fact that a punishment is inevitably applied to the commission of any crime, contributes to preventing the perpetrators from committing offenses.

Those who violate a law will be taken to court where a judge will decide their sentence. The judge will be elected after going to a school meant for this job and passing an exam/test.The judge will have the obligation to know very well both the civil code and the criminal code and to reach a decision regarding the defendant, in accordance with the two mentioned codes.

13. What about our bank system?

The bank system is represented by the financial institutions which distribute credits and financial funds.

All employees will receive bracelets that contain work points which are received by the number of working hours.

14.Which are our occupations ?

Life on the Atum Spaceship is an ordinary one, in which people mind their own business/lives and occupations. As on Earth, most have a job that is useful. These would be some of them:

A. Physicians or Medical Doctors

First of all, we have 600 doctors to watch over at least 20.000 people, thus ensuring the necessary conditions for maintaining an optimal health level, regardless of the situation.

B. Engineers

Also, we need engineers who must be prepared in case of major emergencies, when the ship may be in danger. They must take care of the condition of the ship.

C. Teachers

The role of a teacher may vary between different cultures. Teachers in elementary classes teach the alphabet and arithmetic, or some of the other school subjects. Other teachers may provide formal education or professional training.

D.  Cooks

The cooks are carefully chosen because we need the best, edible and healthy food, to provide optimal nourishment/nutrition to the people on the ship.

E. Psychologists

Psychologists have to be careful about how they behave, because in their hands is the psyche/mental health of people, so only those who are qualified could be psychologists. They are the only ones where people can go with problems.

F. Computer scientist / IT Expert

The computer scientist is an IT specialist. They may be generalists or may be hardware or software specialists.

G. President

The president is one of the highest official positions in a state.

The head of the ship is vested with powers to act as a representative of all the inhabitants. The citizens of the ship will vote to choose him/her.

H. Biologist

A biologist is a scientist who studies living beings and their behavior in relation to the environment. His obligations include: making environmental and laboratory observations, taking samples for scientific analysis, testing and experimenting, processing and analyzing data, elaborating scientific and customary/ordinary publications, being part of professional teams made up of specialists from other fields (such as doctors, pharmacists, chemists, ecologists).

I. Chemists

We need chemists because they are scientists with chemistry training. Chemists study the composition of matter and its properties: density, acidity, etc. At the same time, they quantitatively report the results of their studies, about atomic properties, with details about the molecules of some compounds and atoms that make up them. They also measure the properties of substances, chemical reactions, and other chemical properties less known by an ordinary man.

J. Astronomer

The various cultures in the world have shown interest in the sky/outer space since prehistoric times. Independently, someof these cultures began to support groups of scribes or priests who dedicated themselves to the observation of the orbits/planets/stars. The observation of the planetary movement and the prediction of their future movement was the main occupation of astronomy in Antiquity.

K. Jurnalist

The jurnalist has the duty to write everything that happens on the ship, so the future generations will know how it was in the past.

L. Policemen

The main tasks of the police are as follows:

*Ensuring compliance with the law, maintaining peace and public order;

*The protection and respect of the fundamental freedoms and human rights;

* Combating crime;

*Providing assistance and services to the population, in accordance with the legislation.

M. Farmers

The farmers will take care of all the animals on the ship, including their cleaning/cleanliness.

O. Caretakers/Janitors

The janitors will maintain and clean the entire ship.

P. Tourist guide

The tourist guide will be in the touristic area, having the role of informing people in museums.

Q. Tailors

The tailors will create the best clothes.

R. Collectors

They will collect natural resources.

15.How will we obtain resources?

The steel industry

The steel industry will be represented on the ship just as on Earth meaning forging and obtaining steel. There will be a steel factory and the ship which will forge the metal brought from the moon. Same as on Earth, the steel factory’s production will be:

● The smelter where metal is being melted

● Steel factory where the metal is being turned into liquid steel.

●The cauldran where liquid steel is so lidified

●The mell where solidified steel is being ripped to shred sturning the steel into its final form.

The primary materials used are iron, coal and calcar. These are added in a furnace where the metal becomes liquid. After a few hours the liquid iron is extracted and sent to the steel factory. The liquid steel is poured into steel bars.During the process, different methods are used like adding aluminium to make the steel as pure as possible. The factory won’ t forge steel permanently, the metal only being forged only for certain purposes: for maintenence or cars.

The food industry

The food industry will be managed by preparing vegetables and meat.

Mainly vegetal food:

Multiple fruits will be on the spaceship as well as vegetables and crops

Fruits will be picked and some will be turned into different goods.

The vegetables will be harversted from fields, some being sold freshand same pickeled

Wheat will be harversted and turned into different products

Corn will be turned into corn flour

From other crops like corn, wheat and oat, cereals will be made which can be consumed with milk

Meat-based food:

Cows, goats and sheep will produce milk.Animals will be milked naturally, by hand. The milk will besterilized and will be turned into differen tproducts like cheese , butter.

Eggs will be produced by chickens and other birds. They will be raised in the most natural environment as possible.

Fish will be fished from the water tanks and freshly sold in the market.

Meat will be obtained from sacrificing the animals. They will be put down in the most painless way possible. From the gathered meat we will be able to make diffrent foods.

The food industry will take place in the agriculture area.

The farmaceutic industry

It will contain labs that will produce different types of medications. Those labs will produce antibiotics as well as homeopathic medications from natural plants but also creams, soaps and other things for personal hygiene. The farmaceutical labs will be placed in the industrial area.

The plastic industry

The industry that processes plastic will be one of the industries which are placed in the industrial area.

It will produce a kind of plastic that is biodegradable in water. It will produce different objects of plastic which will be used in people’s homes, plastic bags and recipients that will not contains any liquids. Also those factories will produce the classic type of plastic that is not biodegradable if it takes contact with water. This type of plastic will be decomposed by a plant that feeds with this type of material.

The electricity industry

The electricity will be obtained in industrial plants. These plants will take the waves produced by satellites which have the role of absorbing the ultramagnetic and solar waves. The plants transform the waves in electricity and will be distributed through cable networks and underground wires in the spaceship.

The water collection industry

The water purification will be realized exclusively in the superior level of the industrial petal. The used water will be collected from the whole spaceship first through secondary pipes and then through primary pipes that take the water in the purification factories. The potable water will leave the factory also through some main pipes and secondary and will be taken into the people’s homes.

The fabric industry

It will produce different types of fabrics. Lin and cotton are the materials from which the fabrics will be produced. The fabrics will be taken to tailor’s resulting clothing pieces. Leather will be used in producing shoes and clothing items.

It will be placed in the industrialarea.

The glass industry

It will be placed in the industrial area. It will produce glass. Glass is based on the chemical compound silica, the primary constituent of sand. Many silica-based glasses that exist, ordinary glazing and container glass is formed from a specific type called soda-lime glass, composed of approximately 75% silicon dioxide(SiO2), sodium oxide (Na2O) from sodium carbonate(Na2CO3), calcium oxide, also called lime (CaO), and several minor additives.

By heating the glass, it melts which provides the usage of different methods such as: sulfate, pressing, lamination.

The fabrication process follows: the prime matters, which are sand, soda and pieces of broken glass are combined in the right proportions, measured and calculated, dried and put into the oven, where they are melted at the temperature of 1.500 celsius. Then the glass is poured on a bed of melted tin, which will help it have a uniform thickness and a smooth surface.

16.How can we be healthy ?

After the orbiting of the space station, the patientsnedeed medical care.Being 20000 people on the space there are two hospitals with a capacity of 8000 people. On the basis of these hospitals there are specialized healthcare professionals and new equipment.

The doctors obtain the job in hospital after a test of skills and knowledge in order to be a good doctor for the patients who need the best medical attention.

Every patient gets the full medical attention regardless of the diagnosis found. In hospitals there are healthcare professionals with different specializations such as:Peds,Cardiology,Neurology, Dermato-venerice,Infectiousdiseases,Ophthalmology,General surgery.

In the case of the different accidents healthcare professionals can move directly to the source from where the alarm has been amended with the ambulances equipped with resuscitation equipment and first aid.

There are also psychological cabinets with people trained for different age categories. They are at people’s disposal when they need personal advice.Every six months every inhabitant on the space station is tested by a psychological test made on different ages. Those who suffer from serious mental diseases diagnosed by the psychologists through tests are sent to psychiatrists who can help them recover.

Medical departments of the two hospitals ensure proper care and accommodation of patients throughout the period of hospitalization.

Medical department of hospitalization will be located on one level.Asconstituted a medical department of hospitalization has the following categories of spaces:

The patients’ rooms and sanity facilities required

Rooms for medical assistance

Emergency room with bathroom and shower.

Varoius spaces for household activities of the department.

Currently, for the medical activities in the department will be arranged the following spaces:

Rooms for treatments for those who have suffered different accidents.

Examination rooms

Working areas for nurses, with the monitoring stations of the patients, ads for the storage of instrumentation and medicines.

Rooms for the medical leadership of the department: doctors and nurses, secretariat.

For some of the medical profiles in the department can be provided any other spaces for medical activities:-rooms for the investigation of the various flu which could affect a large part of the space station population.

-rooms for special treatments which are three in each of the hospitals and host people suffering from cancer( the disease widespread nowadays that occurs in the majority of the time due to the stress) who need specialized therapy such as: radiotherapy and chemotherapy.

Surgery rooms with those annexes and other endowments depending on the speciality specific.

A hospital ward may comprise 3-4 establishments of care two of which will be intended for patients who must stay in quarantine, the contact with people being prohibited showing the risk of transmitting diseases which have been diagnosed ,for example:H.I.V,T.B

Child care patients shall be made at the department of paediatrics which has the same type of equipment.

In each of the two hospitals there are 1600 healthcare professionals.Half of these healthcare professionals are nurses,100 of those remaining are psychologists and psychiatrists,200 surgeons, the other 500 are doctors qualified in imaging.

18. Where are our resource from ?

After the destruction of Earth the humankind was forced to discover other sources of water, minerals, oxygen.

Firstly, our main concern is to build a water tank of 200 000 m3 which we will fill from Earth.

The water tank will be placed in the industrial area. Its dimension are: h,l=50 ;L=80

In order to make sure that the spaceship has water countinously , we will send extraction teams on the nearest planets: Moon,Mars, Ceres asteroid etc.

On the surface of the planets, water can only be found in solid form. However, the water is not pure and contains other harmful substances. We intend to extract the water and eliminate all harmful substances from it in order to make it pure.

To gather water its necessary to perform 2 drills: one to extract water and the other one to transform the water from solid to liquid.

On the spaceship, we will take the desired amount of water from Terra which will be used to expend the agriculture. We will use fertilizer and worms to make the soil ready to harvest.

Space mining is possible and there are different procedures that can be used, one of it entails to send people in a smaller spaceship on an asteroid to exploit and extract.

Space mining will provide important quantities of water, oxygen, iron and other metals.

The moon has natural resources of Hydrogen, Oxygen, Iron and Aluminium. On Mars will send teams to extract Carbon and Nitrogen.

Oxygen will be made with the help of cyanobacterium, algae and plants. It will be used by all living forms of life, therefor it will be in high demand.

The 20 spaceships will be 5 meter long and 3 m wide, which enables a maximum of 5 people aboard. They will be equipped with:

-propulsion system

-cabins

-wings

-drilling devices

-pumps

A shuttle for the collection of the water

A shuttle for the collection of the minerals

19. How do we take care of animals ?

On our spaceship, we plan on bringing different animal breeds such as: cows, pigs, chickens, sheep, goats, fish, turkeys, and, nonetheless, bees. Each of them will be provided with specific conditions in order to live and function properly.

The cattle will need a temperature of 15 Celsius degrees. They will be situated in barns and each cow will occupy an area of approximately 2 m2.

All the pigs will be situated in muddy spaces of 15 Celsius degrees average temperatures. Again, each animal will occupy an area of approximately 2 m2.

Furthermore, there will be 1000 chickens placed in 20 square meter kennels. Their food will consist of corn and hominy. Also, it is worth mentioning that turkeys will have the same environment as chickens and they will be situated in the same place.

For sheep and goats, the conditions will be similar. They will live in stables. Even though there are used to low temperatures, the average temperature provided will be 15 Celsius degrees.

On the spaceship, there will be special conditions created for aquatic animals. Here, water’s temperature will reach 15 Celsius degrees.

Furthermore, the bee species chosen will be represented by Apismellifera, also known as the western honey bee or European honey bee.

All these animals represent a significant advantage for us: they are an indispensable source of foodstuff. All the milk coming from sheep, goats and cows eventually will be processed by people into dairy products. Also, chickens will be a source of eggs and meat. In addition, the pork meat and leather will be taken from pigs. Together with sheep wool, this will be the raw material for the manufacturing of clothing.

So nevertheless, having a pet will not be forbidden and anyone on the spaceship will be able to have an animal.

20. How can we grow plants?

The population on the “Atum” spaceship will contribute in the cultivation, growth and the production of sufficient quantity of food. The produced food will be enough for the spaceship’s necessities.

The agriculture area will be placed in the superior level of the spaceship. It will be divided in numerous rooms for cultivating different types of plants using different metods. Each room will have the needed conditions in the plants growth.

Metods of cultivation

Hidroponic systems

In those systems the plants will be cultivated in mineral nutrientsubstances or in an inert environment without using soil. This metod will increase the growth rate and productivity of the crops wihich will consist of potatoes, rice, wheat, carrots etc. The hydroponic systems that will be used will be Nutrient Film Technique and hydroponic cultures.

Aquaponic systems

This metodcombines hydroponic with aquaculture for obtaining crops, but at the same time obtaining fish and other aquatic animals in one system. The fish residue will be used as organic fertilizer for growing the plants, meanwhile the plants filterthe water for the fish. The red worms can be used for transforming the fish residue in organic molecules. The aquatic animals like freshwater fish, crayfish, shrimp and plans like cabbage, cucumber, spinach can be cultivated in this type of system.

21. Is there ecology ?

The water is purified and to destroy as many bacteria as possible we add a small amount of chemical substances in order to destroy the bacteria.

To avoid pollution, all cars and factories will use electrical energy only through solar panels from outside the ship.

Plastic will have a new formula is which it candbiodegradate in water.

Trash will be separated in organic materials and glass.Organic materials will be transformed into fertilizer and glass will be reused.

Substances that pollute the earth will be forbidden in living areas plants will be prezent they producing oxygen.

Hunting and killing animals will be forbidden apart from those being sacrificed.

Water purification

To purify water, big recipients and containers will be used, these being covered in a plastic wrap, sunlight shining right into it. Water will be boiled withaluminium. We extended  theabsorbtion into 2 stages.

We penetrated the fail with 300 hates each nanometer, this stopping the light to spread across the surface. Also, the aluminium oxide fail contured with an extra dose of vaporizes aluminium. The extra aluminium will form a thin crust above the water which maximize the fails sunlight absorbtion. Thealuminium works like gold particles creating hotspot energy points.Oneaquaremetre of fails generates between 2-8 liters of water per hour.

At same point an expedition on Ceres Asteroid will be made, the goal being water.

Air purification

Big vacuum cleaners have been set across halls which absorb the polluted air.The metal tower is around 23 m tall, purifying up to 1.000.000 square ,eters of air each hour. This is possible because of polluted particulas ionized  in the air.The ventilation system radiates from the upper part of the tower, sucking dirty air which enters a room where particles smaller than 15 micrometers ground in the room.Clean air is then blown from the lower part of the tower. This process doensn’t generateozonebecause of the particles having a pozitive charge.

Still, for a better air management all automobiles will run an solar energy from solor panels in living areas, plants and trees will be planted, trees being cut down and replanted.

Recycling

Waste will be recicled in different ways.Organic waste will be mainly used for fertilizer. In this process, certainmicroorganisms, including bacteria and fungi will decompose organic matter in other substances. Waste like leaves, grasspaper, wood will turn into fertilizer. This method has been used for centuries to improve the soil’s fertility.

Plastic waste

There will be 2 types of plastic on the ship: PET and biodegradable plastic made out of plants(orange peels, corn oil).PET will be decomposed bt a type of bacteria and thrown with organic materials.

The trash will be separeted in glass, organicmaterials.Organic materials will be turned into fertilizer which will be used for the soil.

On the ships corridors and in each room, house will be trash cand with label on them for an easier recycle.

22.Are we safe in the spaceship ? We split the spaceship’s safety in two chapters.

1.External security

2.Internal security

1.External

To ensure the ship’s external security we have identified the following threats:spatial objects (meteorites, asteroids) on their way to the ship. Another danger would be the solar storms which may emit radiations affecting the safety of the ship.

In order to prevent the collision of the spaceship with spatial objects, we will implement a system for the identification of the trajectory of the bodies around it,and if it is heading toward the ship and their course can no longer be changed,we have recourse to the probes for the destruction of meteors.

Against solar radiations, the spaceship will generate a magnetic field that will protect all the inhabitans against radiation.

2.INTERNAL

FIRE

We will have smoke detectors, water extinguishers and fire extinguishers.

In case of minor fire, the smoke detectors and water extinguishers will be triggered. We will supply fire extinguishers regularly.

In case of major fire, smoke detectors will alert the drones which are equipped with low sound waves system. (At a certain frequency, the sound may remove the oxygen atoms from the component which burns and fire without oxygen will go out .So,we will save up the water).

Electrical fire/short-circuits.

To prevent the short-circuits, electrical panels with resistors will be fitted.

Outbreaks

In the event of an epidemic it will be established the quarantine.

All the people will have armbands on the hands that will have triple role:

The identification of the people( last name,firstname,SSN-SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER)

They will monitor the health status and the vital functions of the person;when a person

becomes sick a red bulb will light up and will send a signal to the doctor.

Each armband has the location of the man in question, and in the event of a major fire where people must be evacuated,it will be made a centralisation at the Command Center, and each will receive on the armband the location where he must go .(to the nearest retrieval ship where he is assigned).

Water contamination

Water pollution affects the quality of life

THE CAUSES OF WATER POLLUTION.

The accidental leakages of residues of various factories and the deliberate discharges of pollutants;

The chemical fertilizers and discharges from zootechnical compounds.

The household waste;

THE CONSEQUENCES OF POLLUTION:

ON HEALTH

Most of the body diseases are caused by the fact that people do not drink enough water or the water you drink does not have the best quality.

INFECTIOUS DISEASES

Microbial diseases:typhoid,dysentery,cholera;

Virotive diseases: poliosis,hepatitis epidemic;

The diseases caused by pests: dysentery, giardia.

DECOMPRESSION

We have a system that monitors the pressure of air,in the case of the pressure drop will give alarm and the strike/operation team is going to mobilize which will determine the time for action. If the time to act is short and the hole is too huge, the ship will be discharged. If the time allows the intervention, the ship will be divided into two to identify in what part was the crack and will initiate a thorough search.

FELONIES

Each person will have on the armband an alarm button to press in case of danger, and the strike/operation team will come in the place where the person is in danger.

RIOT

If case of ariot,a monitoring crew will be present to ensure that it is a peacefully protest. If occurring violence it will work with tasers.

Evacuation system

The ship will contain an exhaust system located on the bottom level of each main block of the ship. It will consist of multiple elevators and ships.

Each person on the ship will have a location bracelet which will indicate the nearest emergency exit in case it is needed.

Each ship will support a maximum of 100 people, on each floor there will be 20 ships. Each one of them will have one week worth of supplies:

Food

Water

Medicine

Beds

Thank you for reading about “Atum” project .We decided to make this project because we wish to gain experience, cooperativity and more cosmic knowledge. Noticing the current problems that are occurring on Earth, we virtualy built, and designed a capable spaceship in which humans can have a similar life to the one on planet Earth. We combined our ideas and created an organized a pleasant habitat for the people. We sincerely hope that it inspires further work in the field of space settlement. We enjoyed working on this project and not only did we learn to cooperate and think outside the box, but we have also learned quite a bit about space settlement. We are proud to say that we have worked on this project.

“ Space is our future !It is our children’s future! And we have to hand it over to them clean ,safe and sound !”
