Introduction
A traditional saying that provides in a shorter way and includes a moral theme is
called a proverb. It is a short phrase, an aphorism, a comprehensive maxim, a wise word in which
is collected the result of a long experience about every day’s life expressed in a metaphorical,
sugges tive and descriptive way.
The proverbs are concise, express the truth, have moral and bring a smile on our lips,
because some of them have humor, even if it is a bitter one. They may correct straightening,
wrong beliefs and conducts better than one hundred words.
Proverbs may be considered operating strategies in communities to generate their
experience in the way each community perceives life. These beautiful word s represent different
forms of communication . In the didactic activities proverbs are used with success, they also
serve as evidence of peace and reconciliation , as a tool for learning languages and in
our everyday life to avoid doing the same mistakes that past generations have done. These verbal
entities may be considered the most interesting things about human communities. The proverbs
will always be good instruments for thinking and speaking, not only for the sake of it their
beauty, but also because they serve as the way that generations perceived life.
Proverbs represent the experience of p ast centuries, a treasure of wisdom that must be
kept holy to help us pass through life more easily. Proverb is a short statement, which is a
combination of a good truth feel, based on the rich experience that people have and expresses
itself i deas and bel iefs in general. Any popular language and any popular literature preserved
proverbs in the oral tradition. Often, t he same proverb is known in many different countries of the
world , and this p roves the eternal credit of teaching axiological .
The proverb is anonymous, general objective that expresses the subtleties of
persistence of the every day life of the universe truth. The argumentation of proverbs indicates an
indefinite past and i t gives some kind of authorit y revealed from the wisdom of our grand –
grandparents . In addition to the archaic character, the proverbs mean the truth eternal values that
are always used in the present time .
Some E nglish paremologists gave a very interesting definition to the proverb: is a
short and challengin g statement that expresses practical wisdom in a colorful language. In
international terminology, the proverb is named by others pudo or paremia . More linguistics
3
agreed to the fact that the proverbs might be considered as forms of literary creation, forms of
primitive or popular knowledge and as linguistic expressions .
A few centuries ago the term “saw” was synonym for “proverb ”. Proverbs can have
different meanings depending on the situations in which people are. Proverbs are fundament als
and are commonly used to describe with very few words , situations , things which may needed
thousands words , and through a proverb it's a way of doing /explaining things more easy.
Proverbs contain the truths expressed in the same way or e ven along with different
people in the vast geographical area, not only proving the connection of human thought in many
fields, but also prove the approach of human spirit in cooperation with other nationalities.
Beside s everythin g they sa y about proverbs, a thing that could be annoying is when
people around butcher the sense and the meaning of such beautiful wis e and true words. Some of
such interesting words full of meaning and wisdom have been written and spoken since
Solomon's times.
Cultural contexts promote the study of the proverbs, but sometimes proverbs can be
theoretical far from their origins and to what it teaches. The aims of proverbs are not far from
their origins because mental properties exist which is defi ned on the basis of the same principles
of doctrine .
A difference should be made between popular proverbs and the ones that are called
learned proverbs. The popular proverbial saying is the one that has unknown origins, and it is not
known the author of the saying being transmitted orally, later it was written down.
Some examples of popular proverbs could be: “AFTER the feast comes the
reckoning ”, “all’s WELL that ends well” and “A SHORT horse is soon curried 1”.
In West ern Europe proverbs became dominant during the Middle Ages and
culminated in the late sixteenth a nd early seventeenth centuries. English l iterature of this period
of time is rich in proverbial wisdom. It is said that including them in literature, drama, music etc.
working , analyzing the proverbs you work with wisdom itself. The Middle Ages is one of the
richest in creating and at the same time in collecting proverbs .
Proverbs were reflecting the tensions and co nflicts of the feudal society or were
evoking rivalries between regions. Because of the fact that proverbs are malleable, the classics
were always re -launching them.

With the Renaissance in the de velopment of the modern spirit, language beco mes an
important object of study. In that time appear ed paper works of proverb that are proof of their
import ance.
In the seventeenth century was created a dramatic genre . It contained a short comedy,
when the artists played improvisations from a particular expression . In other words, the meaning
of dramatic proverb is that is a type of literary genre that illustrates expressions on the stage and
the people who are audiences should try to guess.
Through the structure , messag e, content, purpose and so many different elements, the
proverbs are quite different. They have different features and clear limits. Thus , trying to define
the word “proverb” is not easy; it seems that it cannot be determined by ordinary people or
scholars . Even if the definition is very profound , from ancient times until today , linguistics keep
trying to achieve it.

Chapter I : On Proverbs
Proverbs are intriguing and wisdom words that appertain to the tradition of any
culture, highlighting the values and sharing the common beliefs and ideas of the entire
community. These sayings are kept in people's memory because they have rhythm , being eas y to
memorize, circulate and reproduce them. It may be believed that people who are more careful to
our old great -great grandparent’s sayings can become wiser. The proverbs have a philosophical
way to teach us the lessons we should learn or the lessons tha t were already taught to the ones
before us. The people are using proverbs with vast subjects like cultural, rel igious, cognitive and
intuitive.
Nothing defines a culture as distinctly as its language, and the element of language
that b est encapsulates a society's values and beliefs is its proverbs”(Martin) . Proverbs belong to
every culture and every language that own their original words. There are some sayings dating
from the primitive time untill the modern time. To the current oral tradition the proverbs are still
being popular in modern societies. It has been difficult that these wisdom words were spoken
because you could't know when they were first uttered.A few time ago they were well -known by
the people in the comunity and they w ere recorded in a written manner, for example proverbs
were used in literature or introduced in a document. Being spoken to generation from generation
it is hard to find their initial forms and when or where they were first said. In „The Tempest ” by
Shake speare was first included the proverb : „Misery makes strange bedfellows from the initial
form Adversity makes strange bedfellows ” . This proverb was known earlier, probably before it
was written in the play. This pr overb has suffered dif ferent variations and nowadays adversity ,
poverty or politics are used instead of misery .
The proverbs have been used in areas like drama, literature, films, music and arts. In
the last two hundred years The Concise Oxford Dictionary of Proverbs provides a general history
of proverbs in common use in Great Britain. With complicated, fascinated and challenging
guidance, the proverb has represented the main theme of some huge studies.
The division of proverbs can be put into three general categories: proverbs from every
day’s life, proverbs that express general truths and the ones that come from the wisdom of
traditional folklore.
6
Altruism, generosity – selfishness, egalitarianism, kindness, logic – illogical, absurd,
paradoxes, contradictions, contradiction, perplexity, perso nality, attitude, power of money,
manipulation in business, fate, destiny, manners, diplomacy and will -passivity All this is
analyzed, more recently, in the book Human Psychology in Proverbs. Certainly, research is not
reality but representation. Her condi tion is that of the image. However, there is no disagreement
over this finding. There might be a disagreement concerning very concept of proverb image ; we
are accustomed to believing that through a "correct" elaboration faithfully reflects a segment of
reality, we transform it into leading words Is that so? Solomon said in his parable that b eautiful
words are like a honeycomb, sweetheart for the soul and healing for bones , including th e fact that
the proverbs to be the re sult of a recessive experience whic h must not be associated with wisdom.
The critical (excess ive) criticism would regard that to reject the act of life derived
from the experience from which the removal of the act of humanity is abolished . Word
temptation offers a rough argument for the inability of the proverb to really revive the action: my
puppy looks up to the TV but gives up after the short research of the life simulation on the small
screen; is not willing to participate in a fact tha t viewers do not know or want to know – what is
seen is not true; her attitude proves (at least in relation to human thinking) a lack of intelligence –
while people are helped (including proverbs) to put bridges between different worlds and to
translate re ality into language, and language in reality is not all intelligence departs from the
actual reality, predisposing us to accept the compromise in which language or the image
substitutes for the real world? The typical human self -illusion capacity explains, among other
things, the ease of manipulation.
Culture, religion, age, gender, etc. may have different important roles such as fortune
or misfortune, good luck or bad luck in the formation of idioms and proverbs of the other
languages. B ecause of these differences, the cultural beliefs carry by the animal proverbs in
societies and the symbols of good luck or bad luck may be reflected in the name of special
animals in idioms and proverbs of each society. According to social and pragmatic v iew in
proverbs beyond the linguistic structure background knowledge and cultural beliefs are important
to convey.
Proverbs are often combined with goals at a specific level, which comes to translate
proverbs. To the proverb “T he first bird hosting the embryo ”, the bird, the donkey and the donkey
are the specific features. The first bird is the one who does something first, you get something,
7
too. The common proverb of proverb is that when you do something first, you find what you
want i n front of others. Given the general meaning, this proverb can be used several cases have a
common structure. It can give us translate to a standard level of specific judgments and allows us
to use this generation translate into a specific form of structur e in a normal building.
1.1. Etymology of English Proverbs
To determine the origin and the text sources of proverbs we strictly fol low the
etymological approach , taking into account that many modern Anglophones can not to know who
it belongs to or what literary text the proverb is from. However, based on the knowledge of native
speakers (functional approach) only, it is very hard to characterize precisely the proverb`s source
of origin.
Firstly, this knowledge differs considerably between different stake holders, and
secondly, for identifying is necessary to hold the mass experience, aiming to accurately determine
the presence / absence in the linguistic consciousness of the individual from the local association
with the source of each proverb (author or t ext), which is totally impossible. The exactly origin of
proverbs cannot be always determined by a special morphological analysis because of their
widely verbal existence in the discourse, the ancient origin of uncomplicated proverbs and a
number of prolif ic proverb patterns and the extra linguistic aspect of paremiological loans. In this
respect, the factual material for the etymology of axioms is mainly its written preoccupation , as
well as the reaction of comparison of paremiological group of different l anguages and / or
dialects.
The authenticity of English proverbs has different sources that are identified by the
historical dynamics and the characteristics of the national specificity of British civilization and
the connection with other’s nation culture.
Usually is difficult to find the initially form and history of a proverb. The division of
English proverbs can be spread into two categories: native and those that have its origin from
Latin and French culture. Liter ature, folklore, history and the
Bible represents some of the main sources of its authenticity. The origin of some
proverbs is not known by the current English speakers or writers; even they are used in literary
8
texts or literature. To identify the authenticity of proverbs the only basis cannot be just the written
fixation.
The b orrowed proverbs can be differentiated into three groups from classical
European languages (26 %), from modern European languages (11.5 %), from non -European
languages (0.5 %). Of the two classical languages, the Latin language quantitatively dominated
(20 % of the units), as it was the intermediate language of the majority of borrowings from the
Greek language (6 %). The origin of a number o f borrowed proverbs (0.5 %) co uld not be
properly determined”2.
The originality of English native proverbs come less from the written sources (18.5
%) and more from folklore (43 %) and create a national -cultural form of modern E nglish in
paremiological fund.
American proverbs are more authenticable about 20 times from literature, while the
British proverbs have their origins about 3 times from the folklore . The volume of the borrowed
proverbs is relied on the a uthenticity in various languages. Traditions are people's everyday life.
What role is involved in actions? Human experience has a variety of common types.
Early examples in literature are the contributions taken by Benjamin Franklin and
Ralph Waldo Emerson with being traditional. Although, many American writers are registered as
being written sources. These proverbs offer some clear examples:
“The eye of a master does more work than both his hands ”3, “Kings have long
arms ”4 were written by Benjamin Franklin in “Poor Richard’s Almanack ”.
“Proverbs and Poetry Are Like Two Peas in a Pod”5 Two active patterns help people
to speak directly as parodies modify proverbs. As this experience creates traditi onal and human
tradition based on it. Different patterns of customs and customs across the country, so the
processes make proverbs of cultural notes, such as their possessions, different objects. It is
suggested that in different cultures, the dictionary m ay have different backgrounds of map

resources to be one target domain. Many complex comparisons of the thoughts reflect the various
types of cultures in that way.
1.2. Proverbs and their cognitive dimension
Cognitive dimensions are designed to provide a lig htweight approach to analyzing the
quality of a design, rather than a detailed description. When a speaker uses the proverbial saying
it expresses his purpose to the participant communication relationships and the use of
comprehension strategies such as me ntal knowledge. on the other hand the audience as one
member of the discussions should translate this context into its context mental and kn owledge
information. Moreover , the difference between the proposal and the audience, such as cultural
diversity in a ction, will be shown to show their different cultures you believe it influences their
understandable, meaningful and psychological translations.
Cognitive dimensions of proverbs means a cognitive process that involves attending
to the input learners receive, is inevitably an easy to remember phrase, meta -cognitive knowledge
such as proverbs which is specific to certain reading tasks and goals conscious process and is a
necessary condition for learn the proverb and to remind it.
A central aspect in the description of the relationship between the proverb and the
context in which it is updated is represented by the discursive connectors that signal the change in
the verbal communication framework made by someone to the sapiential f ramework of the
paremiological statement. The updating of proverbs in a discursive sequence is manifested by
adequacy, which means that proverbs are introduced by marks that emphasize their character.
When a speaker uses proverbs to convey his intention indirectly participates in a
communicative relationship and uses cognitive strategies as mental knowledge. On the other hand
auditor as another member in this document should interpret this context according to his mental
and cognitive knowl edge. Moreover, the difference between the speaker and the listener, as the
intercultural differences in the proverbs, will be illustrated to show their cultural differences
believes that influence their cognitive, logical and mental interpretation.
Usually, proverbs are very close to what people are all over the world Similar
thinking skills, same rules of understanding, and other animals are the same an important role in
the health of the people in these two countries. On the othe r hand, because of the divisions the
10
history of these two social, religious, cultural, and cultural phases history. Because of this
disagreement, consider the difference and the same cultural beliefs taken by animal proverbs
must be connected.
Comprehension often happens at higher levels such as meaning integration6. Brain
imaging studies of language comprehension have demonstrated that there is a comparable
network of areas of the brain activated in higher -order cognitive processes of li stening
comprehension at the word, sentence, and discourse level7
The dimension of proverbs gives systematicity to the cognitive processes which
underlie such phenomena. hat is universal about proverbs is the cognitive mechanisms that
speakers use to prod uce, understand and transmit them, which we have already explained.
Perspective of the chain metaphor theory . Now, if we leave the cultural perspective
interfering, we can affirm that the metaphor of the Great Chain is a cultural model that defines
attribu tes and behavior of humans, animals, plants, complex and natural objects physical things,
as we have seen before.

1.3. Difference between Idioms and Proverbs
An idiom is an expression or an expression a figurative, or sometimes literal,
meaning. Classified as a stereotypical language, the figurative meaning of an idiom is different
from the literal meaning. There are thousands of idioms, common in all languages. It is estimated
that there are at least tw enty-five thousand idioms in English.
Every language has its own collection of wise sayings. They offer advice about how
to live and also transfer some underlying ideas, principles and values of a given culture / society.
These sayings are called "idioms" – or proverbs if they are longer. These combinations of words
have (rarely complete sentences) a "figurative meaning" meaning, they basically work with
"pictures".
This List of commonly used idioms and sayings (in everyday conversational English),
can hel p to speak English by learning English idiomatic expressions. This is a list, which contains
exactly 66 of the most commonly used idioms and their meaning.
Many idiomatic expressions, in their original use, were not figurative but had a literal
meaning. Mo reover, sometimes the attribution of a literal meaning can change when the
expression is disconnected from its original roots, which leads to a popular etymology. For
example, it was said that the spill of beans (revealing a secret) came from an old democr atic
voting method, in which an elector put a bean in a cup to indicate the candidate for which he
wanted to vote. If the pots were spread before the end of the count, everyone could see which pot
had more beans, and so who was the winner. Over time, the p ractice has been abandoned and the
idiom has become figurative.
However, this bean etymology has been questioned by linguists. The earliest written
testimonies come from the United States and involve horse races around 1902 -1903, and the one
who "overturne d the beans" was an unlikely horse that won a race, causing the favorite to lose. In
1907, the term was used in baseball, but the subject "beating the beans" moved to players who
made mistakes, allowing the other team to win. In 1908, the term began to app ly to politics, as
the spread of the word in a vote "spread beans". However, in all these early uses, the term "spill"
was used in the sense of "annoyance" rather than "disclosure." A discussion of mobility has
provided a great deal of links with historica l journals covering the use of the 1902 term.
12
By definition, a proverb is a saying that comes from folklore and transmits a social or
moral message , while "idiom" is an expression made by the unification of words that have
different meanin g from the literal one of each word.
Usually, the word s idiom and proverb, are viewed as identical to each other. This fact
is established on their same form of short sentences and the use of speech. T he proverb has a
higher, outstanding an d superlative meaning than the meaning of each word as in idioms . Both
idioms and proverbs are considered as common statements. They are simple expressions
correlated to the wise words.
The literal meaning of the expression “ HOT POTATO ”8 would be that a potato is too
hot, but the idiomatic meaning is when people deal with difficulties in a situation and that
situation creates a lot of disagreement. Another example would be the idiom “p enny for your
thoughts ”9. The literal meaning of the expression could be that you have a penny for your
thoughts , but the idiomatic meaning is how to ask what a person thinks .
Otherwise , the proverb is a popular statement that reflects the truth and it is
considered a good adviser. The words have a literal meaning.
Here are some examples of proverbs : “There is no ACCOUNTING for tastes ”,
“ACCIDENTS will happen ”10, “ADVENTURES are to the adventurous ”11, “ (English -for-
students)12”.
These proverbs prove that have a profound meaning and they reflect an accumulation
of words that express how life is perceived by people and different cultures.

The difference between Idioms and Proverbs

saying which carries some moral
or practical social message.

expression. They are short stories with a
moral message.
Use They are used to express things
or actions. They are used to give advice.
Considered as They are considered as
colloquial metaphors. They are considered as short
sentences.

meaning of the words. The words are often literal and
they mean what they define.

complete sentences. They are usually short
sentences.

2.1 Proverbs about friends
”SHORT reckonings make long friends ” 14 These words hint at the need of a system
to rewarding our friends to be our friends, and that system we can use it for a long time, to keep
our friends entertained. Long friends in the lifetime are hard to find, because we all are damaged
from previous relationships. I think friends and people who appear in our life, they aren`t all
made to stay, friends come and go, but if we really want to keep them close we need a way to
want them to stay, that`s why people who have money appear to have much more friends than
normal people, but usual people have friends for longer period of time.
“Friendship, like phosphorus, shines brightest when all around is dark ” 15 represent
the darkest periods of our life, when you will have problems , then your new or olds buddies will
come to you when you need them the most. You need to do the same favors sometimes, to be
equal with your friends. The phosphorus is used metaphorical , because the chemical element
shines in the dark and is used in phosphorescent lights. For long time you w ill do compromises
and things for one another and goes to satisfy the need of talking with someone who do you trust
long time.
”The ENEMY of my enemy is my friend” 16 because we are both enemies with the
same identity and we should to co -operate to destroy the enemy because we have the same
problems. The idea of an enemy it means they have more someone to battle with. I believe that
this proverb refers to the most important basic step towards a friendship, the fact that tw o people
need to have some things in Common. These words demonstrate us one thing that people have in
Common, that thing is revenge. Revenge is a powerful tool which can destroy a third party. This
feeling called revenge, usually brings people together fo r a short period of time and in a very few

cases they still remain friends. There are two situations, t o be noticed they still remain friends and
the one in which they don’t. In the second case, a very good example where we can see or hear
this beautiful p roverb is on the mass -media and to be more specific in the mobster movies, news
etc. Where the leader of one organization is planning to hurt somebody and is asking the enemies
of the person who wants to hurt to join him in his plan using this proverb. In the first case, the
fact that two enemies of the same person become closer can make Them talk more and they find
that they have more things in common that they believed before to meet each other.
“SAVE us from our friends”17 has the inter pretation of companion is not always right
for us, we share secrets with our acquaintance, but they aren`t with the same feelings for us, then
they can become an alter ego, better or worse than the original, which is us taken separately,
individually . Some times, friends can have a bad influence on us, if we are weak and we enjoy the
dark side of things. Being saves from this kind of mates can be really hard because weak humans
enjoy dangerous side of life. Also, our friends can destroy us by the reason of t he thing they
know our secrets , sometimes we can`t stop sharing our life on a certain type of people,
narcissistic kind, and after they know everything about us they start to destroy everything good in
our life. Friendship means solidarity al ways strengthened in principles and values. When this
solidarity shakes, when we destroy the principles and values , when our egos are combined with
various complexities , then friendship falls apart.
”Empty purse frightens away friends ”18 has the nuance of the moment when you
don't have money your friends run away from you. The more you try to keep them close, they are
more far away. Considering when you don't have money means you can go out with your friends
and they are not real if they go. They will fade away in the short period of time, usually sooner
than you think.

2.2 Proverbs about life
”FORTUNE favours the brave ”19 has the meaning about luckiness because the brave
people takes risks and then they win much more than normal people, who are scared to change
something about their life. You have to be ready every time of your life. They believe in their self
and if you take any situation, you can make the best of it. You can think about a game, about
level or experience and every time you chase your dreams nothing can stop you. The body has
limitations, but the mind has not. Everything starts from the mind, if you're not mentally ready;
you are never really physical ready. Everybody has a mind, has a gift, your job is to figure out
what that gift. The fortune will work if you're brave enough. You have to be looking in the mirror
to see why you're not succeeding and the re ason is you, not everybody else.
”ART is long and life is shor t”20 They say art last longer than life because it has
been art before the Christ was born and lasted until today and maybe tomorrow. Life is temporary
because you can become the best artist in the world before turning twenty years old and be
average at seventy years old, transforming your life into a work of art and it can last forever in
your mind, also in other’s mind. When you do something that you don’t like you can’t feel alive,
then you should go to funerals. Doing what you like and be paid for it bring happiness in your
life, but we have never ever seen a happy artist, we all see their pain, misery, depression and
anxiety. We still hope that one day we’ll be indeed happy.
”A LIVE dog is better than a dead lion ”21 A loyal dog is better t han a dead lion
because once he is dead, he i s dead , while a loyal dog can beco me a lion when he feel that you
are in danger and he feels that you need their help. The dogs beca me loyal because their root is in

wolves . even that sometimes they are lonely, they always come back fo r their owner because to
him we wi ll be more precious the loyalty of the dog.
”LIFE begins at forty ”22 because you are old enough to think more than a younger
human and to have fun more I look about my colleagues at 40 and they live different enjoy things
like more than 20 years old humans I look at my parents and they have more fun and they enjoy
the pleasure of Life differently and they appreciate more the free time from the jobs they have
sometimes you have to get too bored to do something interesting and begin to try new things like
traveling more, spend more time with your family , because you start to feel like your time of
death is closer than when you had 39 years.
”HALF the true is often a whole lie ”23 because telling the truth for some people is
very hard and they invent lies and dates , so they can't freak other people in the ir sea of lies.
Turning just half of the things can be can have more than one meaning and is a lack of respect
being a liar or a cheater it doesn't prove you're smarter than other people it's represent the
opposite . It takes effort toothache the truth and to say it loud b ecause people are scared of there
themselves and a preferred lies to pack them with colorful paper and a pink ribbon. Telling just
half all of the things can be easily interpreted.
2.3 Proverbs about food
”HUNGER is the best sauce ”24 because when we a re hungry like really h ungry we
will eat anything and everything j ust stop the feeling of hunger in our stomach. The taste of the
aliments does not concern us anymore, in that moment we just need something to eat to keep us
less hungry . But to realize better things in life you have to stay hungry , very hungry, at heart and

”MAN cannot live by bread alone”25 Men need women by their side, on the good and
the bad th ings that happens in their life. The men tend to push away the woman that he loves
because they are sometimes scared to accept they feel something for that woman. We are all
damaged from bad relationships and we tend to make people that love us to run away . A man
can't live alone because men need to be loved and to be cared, often they feel alone and they have
the tendency to fall in someone else arms. Woman needs to be wanted and if her man doesn't
want her enough she could leave him. A man needs more than one piece of bread to be happy.
”BETTER a dinner of herbs than a stalled ox where hate is ”26 it is nicer to enjoy a
poor dinner with friends than a fancy dinner with people you don't like. The idea of herbs in this
proverb means the simplicity of things. And what is a stalled ox? I think this means an ox or a
cow that has been kept in a stall. A beast raised this way would have meant that is tenderer , more
marbled with fat, and more flavorful than an animal that roams the pasture.
”A HUNGRY man is an angry man ” 27 hungering makes you angry. You can't keep
your man hungry about anything. The proverb can talk about the hunger about love, food and
care. These things are essentials in a relationship. Also we can have an unlimited hunger which
we don't talk about with anyone, and that makes us, angry and much more frustrated. Frustration
can cause a calamity sometimes in a relationship.
”You are what you EAT ”28 Ninety per cent of the diseases known to man are caused
by cheap foodstuffs. If you accept to live off Twinkies and Big Macs you will live contrasting
kind of life than someone who checks his sugar intake and is careful about getting right nutrition.
What you choose to eat pin d own how the raw potential that you were born with develops into a
complete human being. It literally defines you. The older you get, the more this is evident.
Damage that we do to ourselves at twenty years old may not show up until our fifty's or later,
because at twenty you are so healthy and it doesn't matter. Things like cholesterol plaque and
organ damage from drinking accumulate over time. To explain this concept in detail, I will use
the following comparison: if you buy a car, you will certainly take care of it. You will be able to
fill it with high quality fuel and all required after the manufacturer's description. The human body

is a very difficult, most effective machine, not only ignoring every day the quality of our meals,
but also in addition we eat to kinds of bad food, like our body and health are not the most
important thing for us. Nutrients must come from sources of the highest quality and be as healthy
as possible for our body. Our physical appearance, body health, and mind a re directly related to
how we feed ourselves.
2.4 Proverbs about money
”HASTE makes waste ”29 You do not save any time by working too fast; hurrying will
cause you to make mistakes, and you will have to take extra time to do the job over again. The
hurrying will result in poor endings. It is a great advice to remember when we run around and try
to make things happen. One of the benefits of this proverb is that can be found everywhere. It can
apply to many different groups of life, including both work time and leisure time. Whether it
serves as a reminder of thanks to natural beauty or as a safety and health advices reminding
employees to think and act attentively before they start to risk themselves hurrying to finish their
work. When someone is doing things hasty makes people enjoy more costs, efficiency and stress
free. This ancient saying is wha t is said in the modern world today and has more meaning than a
few years ago.
”MONEY can’ t buy happiness ”30 Money can buy material things, but real happiness
must be truly earned. Rousseau (1712 -78) wrote in 1750: 'Mone y buys everything, except
morality and citizens." Money does not bring happiness, but it's a necessary “evil”. Even if
money do not bring your health, true love and definitely do not make you immortal, they can still
give you the impression that the world is rotating because of them. And there are many people,
who can no longer make the difference between true happi ness and the illusion of money, but the
knowledge you accumulate w ill help you all your life, and if you are lucky enough to find a
person who a ccepts you as you are with all your defects and qualities and supports you well and

hard, that’s the real and true happiness . As long as you are healthy and willing to exceed your
own limits, anything is possible . It's not about bringing happiness, it's too much said. But it offers
a certain degree of comfort without which the quality of life would decrease. When all the days
are just counting over the judgments and thoughts how to divide the little you have so that you
can reach for all, you can no longer think how to be happy. If you are sick, your child or someone
important to you, if you have no money for treatment, I do not think you look at money as
something that is not necessary. They are important, very imp ortant, but they should never
become a unique goal pr imary in life, primary in life should be other things that money cannot
buy.
”Never MARRY for money, but marry where money is ”31 If you are lucky enough to
find someone yo u truly love who so happens to be rich, then wonderful! But we know this rarely
happens or the relationship seldom lasts unless you are also pretty well off. Instead, the best case
scenario is if you both start off with very little and build your fortune t ogether. Imagine if you
met your sweetheart in high school or college. You should get to go through all the struggles of
trying to get good grades, a respectable internship, and a job that doesn’t destroy your beautiful
soul, together. Then in your twentie s, you would get to experience stabs in the back,
micromanagers, layoffs, office politics and all sorts of other terrible things that make
relationships stronger. Then if you’are lucky, one or both of you will hit your stride, make a lot of
money, and free ly share your good fortune. Money becomes less of a stressor when you
experience the different stages of personal finance together. Once money is out of the way,
you’will have more time to work on other things to strengthen the relationship.
”When the LAST tree is cut down, the last fish eaten, and the last stream poisoned,
you”32 We all have jobs for the money, we pay houses and flats, we b uy cars and clothes that we
can’t afford, we change the time and happiness for the money, we sacrific e our health for the
money and we can buy health again, we cut trees for houses, we sell fish for the money and eat it,
we wash our clothes and we poison the last stream. We all have money, but we think we have
time too. We waste everything, we buy too muc h and consume less, we throw away things, we
never recycle enough and we are obsessed with the idea that we are poor.

”MONEY talks ”33 (Oxford, 2003) has the content of wealth gives power and
influence to those who possess it. Money r epresent a very good medicine for any trauma. Having
them, you can regain your quiet sleep without any problems. And , as they say, anything in this
world has a price. The modern economic sense is of great importance to all economic areas, and
clearly economic growth and financial sustainability but the purpose of wealth depends on the
context. At a general level, research may define wealth as "what benefit" involves both the
attitudes and the mind that it is not a solid or strong sen se. Various translations and wealth
considerations have been explained to different people and other situations. Defining wealth can
be a common practice of behaving in a variety of ways, since the materialistic tendency seems to
be intended or considered to be a general rule.
2.5 Proverbs about health
“NO pain, no gain”34 Pain is an emotionally disorderly emotionally manipulating
process through various prevention programs. For example, endless opioids and intestinal
infections have been found to be inv olved in the placebo and analogue stress. Here we show that
when a sense of pain has been changed from reporting to positive through oral responses, opioid
and cannabinoid systems work and this increases patient pain. We make a lot of pain in the hands
of health volunteers, who have to endure pain as long as possible. One group is notified of hard
work, as is done in any sad information. On the other hand, the second group was told that
ischemia would benefit from muscle, thus emphasizing the support of pai nful activity. We have
found that in the second group's suffering there was a higher elevation than the first, and that the
points were minimized by the anti -opioid naltrexone alone and only a rimonabant contractor.
However, aggregate management of naltre xone and rimonabant has not tolerated less than
tolerance has never been increased. Our findings show that the best way to feel pain is to reduce
the pain of global pain through co -operation of opioid systems and body care practices. This can
be found most likely at the clinic. For example, postoperative pain, which means healing, can be
viewed as less than the pain of cancer, which means death. Therefore, the behavior and / or body

pain can be an effective way of treating pain. You cannot make an achieveme nt without working
hard for it.
“ LAUGHTER is the best medicine”35 Medicines here describe normal treatment, or
something that makes us feel better. This can mean physical healing. Or, it may mean a disease in
mental illness. Of course, it may be dangerous to take medication given by doctors. Still,
scientific studies ha ve produced this proverbial saying. Show them that good thinking, smiling
and laughter can help speed up our recovery. And, even if you have a fever, controlling some
laughter makes you feel better. Why is laughter viewed as the best medicine? Optional: If we
laugh, the right attitude can be involved. In addition, it can spread the infidelity of others.
Forgetting anxiety: laughter banned jokes take a moment in our mind. Physical reaction: The
body of laughter focuses on our body. To help traditional medici ne: Studies show that treatment
is more effective when it comes to laughter. Whether laughing or laughing is a good medicine, in
harmony with these articles, it's reasonable. Maybe it's better to say that laughter makes the
medicine work well. In some case s, nothing can heal us without smiling.
“FEED a cold and starve a fever”36 The theory goes that if you carry on eating when
you have a cold, your body will have to use up vital energy digesting the food rather than fight ing
the cold. You are therefore more likely to allow the cold to develop and become a fever. Your
body will then have no option but to shut down your desire to eat in order to direct all its energy
into fighting the fever.
“EARLY to bed and early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise”37
(Oxford, 2003) Going to sleep early makes you wake up earlier and you think you have time like
the early bird gets the worm, you have time to read, work out, go to job, make some food for the
day and that is making you healthy and wealthy because it is like having 86,400 $ per day and on
the end of the day the money disappear and the next day they appear again but you would spend
it wisely than 86, 400 seconds that you have in a day. The more you work harder and wiser for
what you want you will have anything you need and desire at that time. If you go to bed too late,
you will loose essential sleep, you will not have enough time to rest and be aware of your dreams.

Getting up e arly, makes a man healthier, wise and intelligent reminds us that the way we spend
our time is important and we should not waste it . Sleeping early has its consequences , getting up
in a good mood and relaxed . The best way to achieve your goals is by having a nice start of your
day.
”The best DOCTORS are Dr Diet, Dr Quiet, and Dr Merryman ”38 Everyone has to
endure many things and situations during his lifetime. They say the best doctors are these because
you need three hobbies in life: one that keeps you in shape, one that makes you happy and one
that brings money. The more you live a peaceful life, the more you live happy and longer time,
everything that disturbs your inner peace it is a price too big to pay like the doctor's bill. Bein g
healthy, peaceful and happy are the best and the cheapest medicines in the world because of the
less worries you have. But to be quiet and happy can mean sometimes that you are stupid because
a smart mind will never stop to think.
2.6 Proverbs about fa mily
”My SON is my son till he gets him a wife, but my daughter’s my daughter all the
days of her life ”39 Every mother wants her daughter to control her husband but the same person
recognizes that even the lawyer's presence takes a decision, the leadership of the leader and the
emperor's embarrassment is painful when young women get into the ho use. Grandmother used to
say that -so I think she was fortunate that she had three daughters and she had no sons. But far
from all the feelings -that the child's concern for his elderly parents is cultural. Grandmother was
an Irish immigrant in the United St ates- she expected her daughters to have no sons, but not to
concentrate fully on their children and children as a means of supporting future parents. Is there a
genetic difference when an Irish mother and a Chinese boy care better than the opposite sex? O f
course not. But that is a cultural expectation that has continued over time.

”A BLIND man’s wife needs no paint ”40 How can we imagine the world when our
system disappears? I was struggling to continue with the atom of war that had des troyed many
people and all the basics of everyday life. One problem that conducts such a fantasy game should
always go and be able to navigate to see what really is really changing. During my dream nights I
have never looked for internal changes to my pers on or to some of my survivors. It was beyond
what I could expect even to handle the problems of the change and how to handle it. The entire
blind are keep one. With his wife a doctor continues and is able to provide a small group with
benefits that allow y ou to stay where others cannot . They can find places; keep them all in line
again, most importantly, to find food and water in a world that does not see. I believe that I am so
confident in the idea that we will understand life not as an elephant, but as a test of something
else. From his perspective we are always free to live inside the issue as we are given and we
wonder how we can share the story and not only improve the body's correction, but especially
how they deal with the internal things and the cha nges in people's minds. However, in this
opinion we have been left out of a limited medical perspective, as well as a deep repetition of
"special" dog we had at The Stone Raft again. Salaam looks like dogs for almost all magical
activities. However, you do not play it as a dog at The Stone Raft. Instead, he receives a name by
anointing the tears of doctors when he fails to see what happens to a blind city. Dog stays with
the whole story, but there seems to be no other role.
”MARRIAGE i s a lottery ”41 I do not think the wedding is a note because batteries are
left accidentally. Marriage is a commitment between two people who have made a personal
decision. When you talk about formal weddings, however, I agree that those will steal as lotter y. I
do not know there's something like getting married at "time" for marriage. I was not married until
I was thirty -five. When you meet someone, the first six months are usually astonishing. This is
not the time to make decisions throughout your life. By waiting for the hormone and the small
sea, you can see who really is trying to please you. It is not easy to take, especially when children
are part of the equation. When people decide to marry, they need to be honest about their
expectations and concerns. Both need to be willing to work together and both need one to shine.
A part of knowing that it's OK to see if you help your actions and do not feel like you need to
compete.

“CHILDREN should be seen and not heard”42 Unlike many words in E nglish, the
meaning of this proverb is real. This proverb refers to ancient religious ideas. The first
explanation of the natural talk is that young women should not speak before adults but later go
around collecting all the children. An English proverb sh ould be seen and heard that children are
allowed to come into the conversation but should not be allowed to speak unless they are first
spoken. Most of us are suggested that children should not be considered, which usually means
that they do not speak and talk to him. It also meant normal behavior, especially the old
company. What happens to the first problems? An expert over fifteen years ago shows how we
read and talk t o others "organized" in the children program. The first experience affects the
developm ent of the brain and the basis for intelligence, emotional development and behavior.
“There’s no PLACE like home ”43 Unfortunately, sometimes we forget that everything
begins at home, that everything we need is at home. Home is not just a building that protects us
from rain or cold. The house is that place full of memories that always shows us where we left,
that place that will always be yours, where you always feel safe and w here there are the most
important beings . My home is my refuge. Home is a place where people come back everytime
with all their heart , a pl ace where we are happy, sad , where they slee p, eat, drink, where you feel
safe and comfortable, where we can be who we want to be, where each person gets the first seven
years educ ation. The place where we spend our childhood , where we make friends, laugh , even
cry for different reasons, where I found what truly matters . And the place where you want to
return all the time. Home is the place you forget about all you worries and p roblems , the ideal
place to be everytime , where you eat your favorite food, where you feel welcome everytime
when you come home and you hug your dear ones. Home is where we learn to love!
“HOME is where the heart is ”44 When the soul no longer fits between so many emty
hearts , when the thoughts come together and your mind is busy with one hundred unnecessary
things, when you dream about silence and peace , when you want someone to help you when
anxiety comes, when you feel warm and safe i n your blanket on winter day s, then y ou know that
you do not need any other fulfillment, that you have all you need at your home. An island, a

beach , a building, a city or even a small house with a beautiful garden can be the perfect place for
your heart.
2.7. Proverbs about love
“”All’s FAIR in love and war ”45 (Oxford, 2003) Everything is fair in love and war
because love it’s like with other person because of the difference between us and the distance and
we hurry to love other person without knowing them and we get mad and we think everything is
fair because we do not communicate enough about our problems and wars start like this every
time. Fairness means we can act stupid, we can be mean, we do not listen enough and we jump to
conclusion too fast. Fairness depends on each side on lovers or enemies and they can transform in
one another without the matter of t ime and without knowing that peace isn't anything but
communication and respect is everything in a relationship. In love as in war are not rules to
follow, everything is under the impulse of the moment. I mean no rule s because no one tells you
how many people to kill in one days , like in love yo u can not say that tomorrow you will love
more for various reasons, feelings are formed wirhout knowing and one day you realize that you
are just right next to the person for whom you would give everything . In war the soldiers go to
defend their country, w ithout know ing if they will be back . In love, you are concerned about
showing your beloved feelings, making him or she happy, so that never to want to leave, but you
are unconsciously doing this because you know that the leaving of your loved one will leav e an
empty place in your home and in your soul. And in love and in war you do everything you can to
get out alive and it does not matter what you have to do to ma ke this happen . I also believe in
love everything is allowed because y ou fight for your loved one to get what usually needs, as in
war everything is allowed because generally people fight for what they want to get , power and
money.
27
”LOVE is blind ”46 I think love its blind because when someone falls in love doesn’t
see the bad things about the other person. Love is truly blind, at least when it comes to the way
in which lovers perceive other people than loved ones. The lovers see in their loved ones the
embodiment of all the qualities and traits that they would like to exist. Always the one who loves
sees i n the other beauties that other people rarely discover. Always the lover's defects are smaller
than the others see. Blindness comes with defects, physical traits or bad behavior, that’s why
people end up in toxic relationships . Love comes in different forms, shapes or sizes. Forms have
the meaning of pleasure, kindness and helpless . Shapes have the meaning of the body size no
matter its fat, slim, tall or short; everybody should be loved without counting their size. Love
should never be ignorance. To develop such awesome emotion, the environment came into
action. And it's because love, arrest, attraction is important to birth. And to save the natural
environment, love is blind and other w ays to minimize love. In fact, when we gather, our mirrors
do not just link to our partners, but they reveal some of the most remarkable features of
dopamine, testosterone, vasopressin, oxytocin, serotonin, GABA ─ enhancing attractiveness,
love, desire hon esty.
“LUCKY at cards, unlucky in love”47 Luckiness has a size and a unit measure. You
cannot be lucky in every situation of your life. You have to pay a prize, you cannot have love,
money and time in the same moments of your life. It’s your decision, but one has to go. You can
gamble on all of them, but sometimes you will win at poker or blackjack, but you will lose the
love of your life. In a moment the prize will seem small, but after you will regret your whole life.
It is well known that there are lucky people and unlucky people , lucky situations and unlucky
situations . Everything stays in our hands and we need to make all the possibile to be intelligent
and choose wisely in our life.
”LOVE me litt le, love me long ”48 Questions that love can be given to child care units,
whether to integrate child protection and public service with loving care or loving care, and
whether children and young people feel loved by a caregiver, have raised long-term problems. Is
freedom within the boundaries of a relationship that is unreasonable? The expiration date is over.
46 & 46 Oxford. (2003). The Concice Dictionary of Proverbs. Great Clarendon St reet: Oxford University Press, page
315 & 318
28
Usually, the potential unity only creates your time together and increases the tension, especially if
such unity is due to ensuring t he relationship. On the other hand, less time pursuing your health
allows you and your partner to continue with your partner, rather than being their own because
the unit cannot stay alone. There is no reason to say anything harmful to your loved ones. It' s
over, yes. If you are available, it’s alright, but not at the same time. Even if your partner
apologizes to you, even if you know he does not mean the words, he says he will hurt him with
those words. Worse yet. Using critical information that can only b e found in the hope of hurting
war during the war -is dangerous. He is angry as you like, opposes everything you need, but those
"hurtful things" should be kept unsafe. If not, your partner will remember them long after
forgetting.
”LOVE me, lo ve my dog ”49 because the dog is like my own child for me. People who
love animals tend to try to find the people who love the animals too. The more you love a person
the more you will accept them as they are. The love and respect of the part are amazing an d
obviously it is necessary for a good relationship, of course, but I see how fraudulent music is the
word "cocoon." Your relationship should help you to deal with the world better and more
confidently, not guarantee it. Any relationship that removes or re moves you from cocoon is
suitable for re -checking.

Conclusion
Proverbs and idioms are offering us poetry and wisdom in a few words or sentences.
These have an important role in every country’s culture. Their content is about truth, wisdom and
life lessons learned by our grand – grandparents.
In this work paper , prove rbs are treated as a living reality of the language of the
whole people, based on the synthesis of a social and philosophical experience . Proverbs and
idioms are treated not only as folkloric categories, but, first of all, as some verbal stereotypes,
estab lished in the communication process and for communication.
In communication, by the contribution of proverbs, a special role that is important is
psychological premises, since the paremiological message reflects, on the one hand, a certain bill
of the psy cho-intellectual structure of the transmitter, and on the other hand, its individual –
subjective position in relation to the context in which it is created around the receiver.
It has been found that proverbs may be a solution to resolvin g disputes. It should be
noted that these proverbs succed to bring peace and reconciliation, by making the borh parties to
see the the truth, gathering people and making teams to work towards achieving peace.
Proverbs contain beliefs of life and moral standards. These wise words are manifested
by thinking and represent the depth of the process that the mind is making to understand its
reflection, its powerful and peaceful message.
The fact that everyone can relate and understand something from prove rbs and
idioms , that makes them unique and beautiful. These profound words are used in all the areas like
literature, movies, music and in our daily life. You can find the use of a proverb or an idiom
almost in any situation. When every country translates a proverb or an idiom from another culture
you can notice the life experience, the wisdom and the truth behind these few words. In a way
proverbs unify all the cultures in this w orld, no matter the religion beliefs, language or country,
these are understoo d in the same way. Money, love, friendship, truth, family, animal, war etc.
represent only a few categories of proverbs or idioms and they also represent the traditional
values of a culture.
30
These mysterious words represent a language character transmitted by the older
people to children from their life experience.
I hope that you w ill enjoy the journey throug h you have been enjoying with the help
of the proverbs and idioms by all the branches of the frontal cortex.
I also hope that my words wi ll light the passion with in your heart like the first t ime
when you have heard the genius of Mozart in classical music or when you have tasted the first
time a glass of fifty years old wine.
