Ontheone hand,
these works are meant to
show theabilities Iwas able
todevelop through practice
inthese two domains, and
ontheother, they reveal my
interest in developing
different projects which have
as astarting point my
personal research .
Some of these

The Study of Drawing
in Architecture
Descriptive Geometry: the
intersection of two geometrical
forms. „It is important to see, not just
to be looking at, in order to
actually see the details.”
(Alvaro Siza)
•The drawings that I
sketched where meant to
help me understand the
main principles used in
architecture drawing (plan
view, façade view,
axonometric view, etc.)and
they were mainly carried out
through observation, inthis
way helping me train my
architect eye.
ARCHITECTURE
SKETCH
A Dialogue Between Two
Forms : Hand Drawing
•Through itscomposition, weaspires to
create adynamic façade, with empty
spaces ofdifferent sizes .Afaçade where
different elements, such asthecupand
thekettle become part ofit,accentuates
the dynamism ofthe empty space
composition .A conceptual façade of a
building
•Inthecase ofthisdrawing, there isan
existing dialogue which isbeing
accentuated through theexistence ofa
similar characteristic between thetwo
elements .The communion between the
twoisensured through thecurve shape,
what ismore, itaccentuates the
dichotomy fullvs.empty .
•Bystudying thedialogue between these
two forms, wecan observe that itis
marked byarhythmic line situated
above, the center ofinterest being
represented bytheshadow illustrated
through a black shade, which
accentuates thecommunication between
thetwoforms .
Atthecore ofmy
studies (artschool) was the
cube .This geometrical
figure is seen as a
volumetric and symbolic
modular form. The
metamorphose ofthecube
gave me numerous and
various possibilities of
expressing spatial
structures ,based onmy
choice of display :
horizontally, vertically or
obliquely .
The proposed
sculpture studies the
possibilities of space
inference with it.The
overlapping techniques
imply knowing thespecific
materials foroperating with
the visual language and
their compliance within the
plastic discourse .PORTFOLIO
1. Shape no. 1
•This sculpture hasaninteresting shape .
Itfollows amodular structure, giving ita
sort ofdynamism and rhythm through
dislocations and overlapping .Its
dynamism and thetransparency ofthe
material areaccentuated bythenatural
light.
Material: paper
Dimensions: 45x65x35 cm
2. Shape no. 2
•This design ofthisstructure tracks its
inspirational roots back tothework of
theRussian artist Kazimir Malevich .
This structure could represent, for
example, thenew form ofaspatial city.
•Itisaspatial construction, and
although theaccents falls ontheuse
ofcolours ,the other characteristics
cannot bedenied, forexample, colours
create the illusion ofdepth and
movement, but there can also be
discussed how volumes are
constructed inspace .
•Materials : wood, color water
•Dimensions : vary
3. Shape no. 3
•Materials : wood, tracing paper
•Dimensions : vary
This project`s main source of
inspiration was themodel ofatraditional
Japanese house .Aconceptual form which
wished tocreate apassage through spaces
(outside, intermediate, inside ).From allthe
surfaces, there aredifferent forms which are
being pulled onthe outside, and this
underlines theidea ofentering inside the
cube from wherever wemay wish.The
relation inside -outside is accentuated
through these volumes/ extensions of
volumes which can represent aconnection
withtheexterior .
The light penetrates though these
extended elements found onthesurface of
thecube .
Seen from the outside, Iperceive this
construction asavisual phenomenon .
Atthesame time, Iunderline the
factthatthefaçades represent anensemble
ofarchitectural elements, and thiscanalso
beobserved inthiswork .
Playing the

The Romanian
cultural program Playing the
Architect was theidea offive
Romanian architect and itsaw
thelight ofdaysixyears ago.
Since then, theprogram has
experienced great success,
expanding throughout the
country and the number of
Romanian primary schools
involved rose.
•For the 3rd class pupils, the program aims at
teaching them what architecture means and
which are the implications of an architect`s
work. So, by following step by step the
following three rules, they start creating their
own project.
•1.Notions and Concepts of Architectural
Theory;
•2.How we build a house : after the children
have learned some theoretical notions, they
learn how to build a model house.
•3.What represents a SITE
•The result: The children learned how to build
a village or a city in open space.

Competition Entry Form
Team project: Ciotau Adriana
and Crisovan Lavinia
The site islocated in
Oradea (Romania )ontheright side of
theriver Crisul Repede ,between the
Decebal bridge and the collective
housing .
The shape ofthesitehas
influenced thefinal layout oftheoffice
complex .In3Dview, there arethree
towers which are contected onthe
ground level with ahorizontal element
which contains thepublic spaces .
In the three towers , there are office
spaces. The project required six firms one level,
two firms on one level and one firm on the level.
The plan proposed is the one with two firms on
the four level of the tower. The plans are
connected by vertical circulation.
The proposal plans it for a design firm. The open
space plan is divided into the administration
area, working space and relaxation area.
The administration area includes: welcome zone
/ space, secretary, director office and conference
room.
The working place includes working
stations, meeting space and individual working
office. The relax area includes quite spaces and
coffee corner.
The organisation of the functions listed is to
create a space more functional, diversified and
flexible the result is a free space to move around
the entire office.
There are spaces for people who
like to work in groups and others who prefer the
individual workspaces.
The result is a plan that encouraged employees
to walk and interact with others.
The plan follows certain patterns of the natural
light on the length of the plane, so the working
place is near the window, the private workplaces
are in the middle and the technical room and the
meeting room don t have natural light.
On the width side, there is the secretary with the
welcome area and the director office next to the
entrance on the opposite side there is the coffee
corner.
There two main axis (hallway) which
divides the plain into three main areas, and three
secondary axis (corridor) which connects the two
main axes .
The furniture design is simple and ergonomic
using organic material to make the environment
work better

•Some posters were designed inorder to
inform thelocal people and raise awareness
within thecommunity regarding thevalue of
their cultural heritage .Each poster contained
apicture and accompanying information
related tothe displayed picture .Take for
instance theCrisan street :what gives the
particularity ofthis street are the miner
houses arranged inarow.The importance of
these houses resides inthefact that they
reveal thearchitectural style ofaspecific
period .•Research:
•The project aspires to identify
some possible cultural tourist
routes . That is why we made sure
we follow several steps:
•1.Identifying the main
characteristics of the place;
•2.Making a presentation of the
main characteristics;
•3.Project proposal (as a result of
the first two steps);“Each country`s architecture is
characterized byasearch tofindaway
toexpress itsidentity inaunique way.”

:green architecture .
•The project wewant tosetforward aims atadapting theconcept of
green architecture, which involves creating comfortable living
environments, however, making sure that theenvironment isnot
being neglected intheprocess .And weplan ondoing this by
involving both individual andsociety .
•The project consists ofcollective houses which aregoing tobe
situated inanarea withadense urban population .Thebuildings are
designed insuch awayastobenefit those living inthehouses, such
asexploring thebenefits ofsunlight, theheat system, water
installation aiming tomake useoftherainwater fordaily use, etc.,
butalso take intoconsideration theother people residing inthearea.
Downstairs, thebuilding isopened towards thepublic through a
green space which canbeperceived asapassage area :from the
public space towards thepublic service area, which issituated
downstairs .
•Wehave chosen forstudy purposes thetheme ofcollective, because
weconsider itisagood opportunity tostudy, within thesame context,
three types ofspaces :public, collective and private, together with
theborders andthecrossings ofthese inurban residential areas .
•The characteristics ofthetransition spaces orofthose acting asa

ofsustainability inthecase ofbuildings .
•Ontheground floor, there willbecommunity integrated features :
household related, offices, etc. These features must beprovided with

Dico & Tiganas Internship 2013
Date : July 1 -30, 2013
Location: Cluj -Napoca, Romania
This internship was organised by the president of the firm, Serban Tiganas ,
in 2013. The firm Dico & Tiganas is an architecture firm known due to its
unique projects. For example, the ClujArena Stadium (Cluj -Napoca,
Romania, http://www.dicositiganas.ro/portfolio/sport -leisure/cluj -arena –
stadium.html )Project name: infracucluj
Main ideas of the project :
-the city seen as a public scene
-the public space is architecture
-the urban design is infrastructure
—Inthe neighbourhood Between the Lakes ,wehave
identified several areas with potential .The lake area,
which isindensly populated area, ifproperly adapted,
could offer solutions fortheinhabitants` leisure time. The
unused area could beused fordifferent activities related to
thecommunity .The people inhabiting theneighbourhood
claim thatthey want thistobeanarea `filled with trees `,
and toremove allthebarracks, toclean thearea and
remove allthegarbage, build pathways forwalking, etc.
—The green plateaus near theFujikura factory were the
result ofaninappropriate urbanist plan.Being analready a
densely inhabited area, theplateaus could beadapted so
thatthey answer theneeds oftheir inhabitants :sporting
andcultural needs, activities involving thecommunity from
thearea, etc.
—Thesquare from Plevna street isaplateau area, used as
resting area bythose crossing itand agreen area for
those living inthearea.Ifweconsider thecommercial
character ofthearea, amarket could besetinplace,
access toitbeing facilitated bytheexistence ofpublic
transport inthearea.Also, thenecessary facilities forthe
useofbicycles, such astracks andplaces where tosecure
them, could bebuilt, since theinhabitants ofthearea use
thismeans oftransport very often .
—Somes`s dike area, situated in the Bulgaria
neighbourhood ,isused forpeople asawalking area.
Although forthemoment thewalking area isinterrupted by
thesalvage vegetation, could beadapted soastosatisfy
theinhabitants 'needs related tospending their free time.
The fact that itisalready anarea ofdense vegetation
means that itisvisually and phonically isolated, sothe
industrial area nearby does notaffect thepeople living
there .
—Thegreen area from Blajului street isanarea used bythe
people living intheapartments nearby .Here andthere, we
canseeplaying areas which arenotproperly being taken
care of.One oftheimportant character ticsofthearea is
thefactthattheSomes issituated nearby, thisdiminishing
thedisadvantages ofbeing near theindustrial area and
having around alotofpylons .

Thesiteislocated inthetown of

cityparticularly interesting :itislocated inan
area ofthecity, which, forthepast several
years, has been experiencing acultural
development .
The concept follows alogical
and conceptual insertion .Compared with the
site, even thecharacteristics oftheplace are
rather small (theheights, forexample ).
There aresome buildings that
mark the place .The highest building isa
church followed byashopping mall,a
building developed horizontally .The building
that we intend forproject has two main
characteristics :theheight andwidth ofthetwo
existing buildings .
The program
Keeping the same rules ensures the
functionality ofthisprogram :themain entrance

stair bodyline that makes theconnection with
both pockets ofthetheatre .
The site isused inanintelligent way, due to
the all-side entrance (one can enter the
building from allexisting sides) .

•Man hasalways been close
toMother Nature and this
canbenoticed bylooking at
thebeginning ofhuman life.
During theUpper Paleolithic,
man identified withthespace
surrounding (nature) him
through the idea of
motherhood .Small figurines
made ofivory orstone where
created (forexample, Venus
ofWillendorf ).•In time, with the emergence of civilisation , a
new condition was established in order to
ensure this relationship. Each civilisation had
certain principles. There were man
boundaries conditions in terms of
administration, politics and religion. ( aici
lipsește ceva ..parcă )
•The principles of relation changed during the
Renaissance time, when the concept of
space was brought out. There was a need to
change the relation and to break out of the
classical context and this process can be
seen by observing the works of artists such
as: Augustin Rodin, Jean –Baptiste
Carpeaux , etc. Since it was no longer
submitted to the constraints of figurative
representation, the plastic volume invented
its own laws, or better yet, it rediscovered
eternal existing laws that had been
concealed due to the necessity or the
practice of representation.
•Augustin Ioan never took into account the
academic conventions of his time, his
sculptures revealing a process of
redefinition.
•The perception of reality changes
dramatically in relation with the French cubist
movement. In the early twentieth century,
this movement revolutionised art through
works like those of Pablo Picasso and
George Braque. Through decomposition and
reassembling, they created new pieces to
form a geometric crowd. A brief historyIntroduction
When talking about
the notion ofform ,itis
important tounderstand that
this concept has gained new
values over time, mainly due
to the new relationship
established between man and
theworld surrounding him.
In order to
understand this new
relationship, there isaneed to
understand that are referring
toaradically different onefrom
that represented throughout
history ;arelation translated
into art and architecture
through thenotion ofform.
•There arenine paper cubes,
outofwhich seven arelarge
blocks and two aresmaller
ones .The seven blocks are
ofequal size(550x550mm)
and theother two have a
sizeof150x150mm.
•Allnine cubes aredisplayed
inspace soastoemphasize
verticality, thus building upa
monumental cube .•Why a cube?
•If we consider the constitution of the human
body, we have to take into consideration its
gravity needs, which as is it the case for a
spatial structure (in this case, the cube
construction), needs stability. The cube itself
is stable, economic, by being neat and
simple, and has shape. This construction
shows a space clearly defined by limits.
•The plane faces forming equal -closed edges
regularly limit it as a solid geometric figure.
The work represents a three -dimensional
composition resulting from overlapping and
duplicating a cube. This idea is that of
making a network of volumes by placing the
cubes face to face. Each volume has thus
parallel surfaces represented by the faces of
the other cubes.
•A composition made up of colours , whose
symbolism can be associated with spatial
dimension and colour . At that time, I wanted
to suggest infinity, but also limited space. I
used primary colours (red, blue, yellow) and
a binary colour composition resulting from
the mixture of two primary colours .
•I used the optical properties of colours to
recreate the impression of restriction of the
form compared to the space. However, at
the same time, I intended to create a certain
expansion of this form in space. Hence, as
the red progresses and expands, the blue
gives a feeling of withdrawal and absorption.
•At the core of the building, there is green, Transposition workAs time passed, the
architectural space was
regarded asbeing limited on
the outside and asafilled
cavity onthe inside .Inthe
modern age, theappearance
ofnew materials andtheir use
ledtotheemergence ofanew
concept regarding form.An
example forthisperiod isthe
Barcelona Exhibition Hall,
conducted by the German
architect Ludwing Mies vander
Rohe .Here, the requirement
forarelation ensured between
outside and inside isshown
through thedisplay ofthewall,
which through itsposition and
based onthematerials used
expresses unlimited space .
